Dates, times and costs come from each organizer's own page, read November 5, 2026. Drive times without an asterisk are measured routes from our Middleton commute times page. Event nights will run slower.

When is Light Up Middleton 2026, and what else is downtown that night?
Light Up Middleton is Saturday, December 5, 2026, from 5 to 8 p.m. in Downtown Middleton, according to the community's upcoming events page. It is Middleton's annual holiday tree lighting. The same day, The Tracy Performing Arts Center has CHURCHILL on its schedule, so expect a fuller downtown than an ordinary Saturday.
The Middleton upcoming events page describes Light Up Middleton in one line: the community's annual tree lighting in the downtown district. It does not list a cost, a ticket, a parking plan or a rain date. If any of those matter to you, check the page again in early December, since that is where Middleton posts changes.
Two things make that Saturday busier than it looks on paper:
- The Tracy. The Tracy's calendar lists CHURCHILL on December 5. Our guide to The Tracy has show times, ticket rules and the box office details.
- Light Up Webster runs the same evening, 5 to 9 p.m., about 22 minutes west. More on that below.
Earlier in the season, the Buffalo Market on Saturday, November 7 (9 a.m. to 2 p.m., VHS Courtyard) is the community's other listed event before December. Middleton describes it as a handmade goods market hosted by students at The Villages High School, with local vendors, which makes it an easy place to pick up early gifts close to home.
If you plan to go downtown by golf cart, our golf cart rules guide covers what Wildwood allows and when. Read the hours and lighting rules there before an evening trip, since the tree lighting runs after dark.
What happens at Wildwood's Winterfest and Light Up Wildwood Christmas Parade?
Winterfest is free and opens at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2026, at Wildwood City Hall, 100 N. Main St. The Christmas parade of community and business floats starts at 6 p.m., the tree lighting in the City Hall courtyard follows at 7:30, and Santa visits from 8 to 9 p.m., per the city.
This is the city's big holiday night and it costs nothing. The City of Wildwood events page lists vendors, s'mores, a kids' zone and food trucks alongside the parade and the tree lighting, and the city's July to December 2026 program guide adds the 5 p.m. opening and the 8 to 9 p.m. Santa window. Questions go to the city at 352-461-0134.
Downtown Wildwood is a measured 21 minutes from Downtown Middleton. The city's page does not publish a parade route or a parking plan, so arrive early.
Two weeks later, a quieter option. Cookies with Santa is Friday, December 18, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Wildwood Community Center, 6500 Powell Rd. It is free, and it opens with a sensory-friendly hour from 5 to 6 p.m. for anyone who prefers a calmer room. The city lists cookies, milk, hot chocolate and photos with Santa.
Can you go to Light Up The Villages if you live in Middleton?
The Villages' announcement for Light Up The Villages lists no ticket, fee or resident requirement. It runs Tuesday, December 1, 2026, from 5 to 9 p.m. at The Villages town squares, with tree lighting ceremonies at 6:30 p.m. Middleton is a separate community, so these squares are a neighbor's events, not Middleton amenities.
According to The Villages' announcement (posted September 23, 2026), every town square lights up on the same evening, with holiday music, lights and guests of honor. The page does not name the guests or list square-by-square programs.
From Downtown Middleton, Brownwood Paddock Square is a measured 22 minutes and Lake Sumter Landing 31 minutes. Eastport is at 7025 Central Lake Dr. and carries the same 34762 ZIP code as Middleton, per The Villages Entertainment, which lists nightly entertainment there from 5 to 9 p.m.
Know the house rules before you go. The Villages Entertainment's Know Before You Go page says parking at its venues is free, and it does not allow outside beverages, coolers or tables in or around the squares.
Holly Jolly Arts and Crafts Festival. The other big square event is at Lake Sumter Landing on Saturday and Sunday, December 12 and 13, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Villages Entertainment lists it as free, with handmade goods from local artisans, food trucks and live entertainment. Vendor applications are closed.
Middleton is developed by The Villages Development Company, LLC, but it is not part of The Villages, and sharing a developer does not mean sharing amenities. Our Middleton vs The Villages comparison lays out the differences side by side.

A date to double-check in Webster. The city's event page lists Light Up Webster for December 5, 5 to 9 p.m., but its description calls it "Friday, December 5." December 5, 2026 is a Saturday. What is happening around Middleton for Thanksgiving 2026?
Less than December. The Webster Westside Flea Market holds its Thanksgiving Extravaganza on Monday, November 23, 2026, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., about 22 minutes from Middleton. Wildwood's 2026 program guide also lists a Thanksgiving Blessing Baskets program, and the city calendar shows no public Thanksgiving Day event.
Webster Westside Flea Market. The market's site lists the Thanksgiving Extravaganza on Monday, November 23, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., an hour past its usual Monday close. The market says it covers 35 acres, opens every Monday rain or shine, offers free visitor parking and welcomes leashed pets. Its new Saturday Yard Sale runs the second Saturday of each month, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., including November 14 and December 12, 2026.
Thanksgiving Blessing Baskets. Wildwood's program guide lists a Thanksgiving Blessing Baskets program; to give a basket or ask to receive one, call 352-931-0357.
Wildwood's online calendar, read November 5, showed no public event on Thanksgiving Day itself. If you are new here and hosting family for the holiday, our guide to things to do near Middleton and Wildwood has the parks, trails and squares worth showing visitors.
The local take
I was born and raised in Marion County, and the small-town light-up nights in Wildwood, Bushnell and Webster are the same kind of evenings I grew up with in Marion County: a parade, a tree, a line for Santa. What is new is that Middleton now has its own, a short walk from a lot of front doors.
That walk is the part worth thinking about when you choose a homesite. Being close to downtown means you can stroll to the tree lighting, The Tracy and the restaurants. It also means you live near the place everyone else drives to on event nights. Those are both true, and which one matters more depends on you.
Here is what I would check before picking a lot or a floor plan:
- Drive or ride the route on an event night. Go to Light Up Middleton on December 5 and notice where people park and which streets fill up. That one evening tells you more than any site plan.
- Confirm your cart or walking route downtown. Ask which paths connect your street to downtown and whether they are open today or only planned.
- Look at the lots around you. In a community still being built, the quiet empty lot behind a home may hold a future amenity or a busier street. Ask the builder what is planned there, in writing.
- If you are closing in December, the calendar matters for more than parties. Our Amendment 3 post explains why December 31, 2026 is a date to discuss with the Sumter County Property Appraiser and your tax professional.
I am an independent agent, so my job is to put those trade-offs side by side, not to steer you to one builder's lot. If you want to compare a few homesites with this in mind, I am glad to help.
